I’m baaaack!

After a five year detour leading the global software team for Desktop Metal, I am back at it with a new name, a new mission, and new subject matter! I am now going to share my 30 years of experience in CNC machining, 15 years of 3D printing, and 10 years laser cutting and engraving along with decades of CAD/CAM and graphic design software development and usage expertise.
Over the years, I’ve converted manual CNC machines (milling and lathe) to CNC, I’ve designed and built CNC routers, 3D printers (FFF and SLA), and diode lasers from scratch, and I’ve owned many commercial machines across these technologies. Along the way I’ve contributed to many Open Source projects including Marlin, Smoothie, RepRap Firmware, and Cura Engine to name a few.
I do my work in a space that is part workshop, part design studio, part laboratory, and part factory. I haven’t come up with a good name for it yet so let me know if you have any ideas! In addition to a complete woodworking shop, I have a CNC milling machine, a metal lathe, several FFF 3D printers including a D300 Delta printer, a 100 watt CO2 laser, MIG and TIG welders, and lots of other equipment for working with wood, plastics, and metals of all types. My most recent acquisitions are a Onefinity Journeyman (upgraded to the Elite) and a Bambu Lab X1-Carbon with AMS, On top of all of this, I also design and manufacture fly fishing reel kits and other products for fly fishing (www.eclecticangler.com) and publish angling related books for myself and six other authors (Reel Lines Press) and I took a little side trip publishing a book on 3D printer mechanics.
So, there’s a really broad overview of what I do and what you might expect from this blog and accompanying YouTube channel! I greatly enjoy helping people learn these technologies and helping small businesses get off the ground. As long as you are respectful and have a genuine interest in learning, let me know what I can do to help! In exchange, I’d greatly appreciate your support by subscribing to my YouTube channel, this blog, and joining my email list (where I will NOT spam you or sell your information to others).
